FAQ
-
What can I expect during the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns you have. I’ll also share more about how I work so we can decide together if it feels like a good fit. There’s no pressure, we go at your pace.
-
How do I schedule or cancel an appointment?
You can schedule and cancel an appointment by contacting Nathan directly by phone or email, or you can use his online scheduling system available here [your client portal]. I ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations to avoid being charged the full session fee. If you have any trouble, feel free to reach out directly.
-
How long are sessions and how often do we meet?
Most sessions are 50 minutes long. Many clients choose to meet weekly, especially at the beginning, but we can adjust frequency based on your needs, goals, and schedule.
-
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions (or both)?
I offer both in-person and secure telehealth sessions. You’re welcome to choose the format that works best for you, and we can switch between the two if needed.
-
What approaches or modalities do you use in therapy?
My approach is integrative and client-centered. I draw from trauma-informed practices, somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), brainspotting, and relational therapy. We’ll work together to find what best supports your goals and growth.
-
Do you take insurance or offer sliding scale rates?
I currently do not accept insurance directly. However, I can provide a superbill, a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits. I also offer sliding scale rates based on availability and financial need. Please reach out if cost is a concern, I’m happy to talk through options.
-
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be helpful if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of your next steps. You don’t need to have a major crisis to benefit. If you’re curious about therapy, that curiosity is often a sign you’re ready to explore support.

How long does therapy typically take?
The length of therapy varies significantly depending on your specific goals, the complexity of the issues you're addressing, and how you respond to different therapeutic approaches. There is no "one-size-fits-all" timeline for healing.
For some clients focusing on specific challenges or seeking targeted support for performance issues, meaningful progress can happen in as few as 8-12 sessions. For those working through complex trauma, addiction, or long-standing patterns, therapy might extend from several months to a year or longer.
I believe in goal-oriented therapy that evolves with your needs. At the beginning of our work, we'll collaboratively establish clear goals to guide our process. We'll regularly revisit these goals to assess your progress, celebrate improvements, and make adjustments as needed. This approach helps ensure therapy remains purposeful and effective.
Some clients choose to transition to less frequent sessions as they improve, while others may benefit from more intensive work during certain periods. For those interested in a more concentrated approach, my intensive sessions offer an alternative to traditional weekly therapy that can sometimes accelerate the healing process.
During our initial consultation, we can discuss realistic timeframes based on your specific situation and desired outcomes.
