Why Shoreline?
At Shoreline Counseling, the name represents more than just a practice. It embodies my personal journey and therapeutic philosophy.
As an avid surfer and someone who spent more time in the ocean than on land growing up, I've experienced moments when the sea turned volatile without warning, when waves crashed relentlessly, and when the shoreline seemed impossibly distant. In those moments of struggle, paddling against currents that threatened to pull me further from safety, I learned profound lessons about resilience, patience, and hope. Each time I finally reached the shore, sometimes exhausted and shaking, but always grateful, I was reminded of the incredible human capacity to navigate through seemingly impossible challenges.
This experience mirrors what I've witnessed in therapy. Life's unexpected storms of trauma, difficult emotions, grief, anxiety, and depression can make us feel adrift, struggling against overwhelming forces, uncertain if we'll ever find solid ground again. The shoreline represents that place of safety and stability that can feel desperately out of reach during our darkest moments.
Yet with support, with learning to read the patterns of our emotional waves, with developing skills to navigate the currents of our thoughts and feelings, we can find our way back. Sometimes the journey is long and arduous, sometimes we need to drop anchor to rest and gather strength, but the shoreline is always there representing hope, healing, and the possibility of standing on firm ground once more.
At Shoreline Counseling, I create a space where you can learn to navigate your own emotional seas. Whether you're facing difficult life transitions, struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, performance blocks, or seeking freedom from past trauma and shame, I offer a compass and companionship for the journey. Together, we'll work toward reaching that shoreline, a place where you can find stability, clarity, and the strength to move forward at your own pace.
